Castle Leod is the perfect venue for small weddings of up to 60 guests and we would be delighted to help you have your perfect wedding ceremony. As we are not open to the public everyday, we can offer you a relaxed atmosphere on your wedding day whether you chose to be indoors or outdoors.
Castle Leod lends itself to a Celtic theme if you feel inspired by that tradition. Hand tying, sharing a wee dram from a silver quaich, presenting a sword or pinning the tartan, or using an owl to exchange rings, these things can all be woven into your ceremony. If your interest in Castle Leod is through Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series we can offer a romantic Outlander themed ceremony with a wedding address tailored to you but inspired by Claire and Jamie’s vows.
If your interest in Castle Leod is as the seat of Clan Mackenzie, you might think about using the tartan to symbolise the joining of the two clans of your families who ever you are. For very small weddings for just the two of you with or without witnesses, we can offer a cosy ceremony in the old drawing room next to the fire or out in the park beneath one of our ancient trees. The Earl and Countess who live here have been called upon many times to act as wedding witnesses.
For larger weddings of up to 60 people, we can seat them in the drawing room or outside in front of the Castle, larger numbers can be accommodated in a hired in marquee, making use of the castle interior for photographs, or you and your guests could use the tree lined avenue leading up to the castle to form a procession with a piper leading the way and gathering around the 500 year old Sweet Chestnut to take your vows.
We look forward to welcoming you however you chose to celebrate your wedding, we will work with you to help your dreams come true. We have a list of reliable and trusted people who can help you with your ceremony, photographers, pipers and harpists.
